Peoria firefighters were called to the 800 block of W. Trailcreek Drive for a man trapped in a storm drain. It happened around 2:00 p.m. Thursday.
Battalion Chief Michael Hughes said people standing outside heard someone yelling in the distance. They thought it was coming from the woods, but realized someone was stuck in the drain.
When rescue crews arrived, they found the man stuck head first in a storm pipe.
Crews had to use crow bars and rope to remove the drain cover before the man was rescued.
Hughes said the man claimed he was assaulted and put inside the storm drain. He was taken to a hospital. His condition was unknown.
Authorities still aren’t sure how the man got stuck in the drain.
