PEORIA, Ill. – Gas prices are trickling down in central Illinois.
GasBuddy reports the average price of a gallon of unleaded in the Peoria-area is $3.72/g, a 2.2 cent drop in the past week. The average is 16.7 cents lower than one month ago, and 32.9 cents lower than one year ago.
The cheapest price GasBuddy listed in Peoria is $3.41/g with the most expensive at $3.99/g.
AAA is reporting an average 3.5 cent decrease in a gallon of unleaded in the Peoria-Pekin metro area, to an average of $3.75. The average is a 16.5 cent decrease from one month ago, and a 30.5 cent decrease from one year ago.
Prices across Illinois are also seeing a downward trend. GasBuddy says the average in Illinois is $3.77/g, down 8.1 cents from last week. AAA is reporting an average of $3.80/g, down 9.2 cents from last week, down 24.5 cents from a month ago, and down 36.5 cents from one year ago.
Analysts believe the drop in prices is a trend that will stick around for a while.
“While this week saw average gasoline prices moving higher again in the West, most of the nation saw a noticeable decline in gasoline prices. However, with California allowing the transition to winter gasoline to begin immediately, easing supply concerns, we’re likely to see nearly the entire country see gasoline prices trend lower in the week ahead,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
