PEORIA, Ill. –A Pekin school bus was hit, with kids on board, Monday afternoon.
The crash happened just after 3 p.m. at S. 9th and Washington Streets.
A BMW hit the bus on its side, then careened off, getting wedged into a curb.
Two kids were reportedly on the bus, but no one on the bus was hurt.
Residents have complained about speeding drivers in the area. One of them told 25 News that they put a large rock in their front yard to protect the house from wild drivers.
Late Monday, Mayor Mary Burress said Police Chief John Dossey told her that the driver of the BMW was cited for running the stop sign and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
