PEORIA COUNTY, Ill. – A Mason County man has been identified as the fisherman who drowned in a Mapleton lake earlier this week.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood on Tuesday identified the man as 59-year-old James Henry of Topeka.
No foul play is suspected, Harwood said.
“How and why he ended up in the water remains under investigation, however, it appears to be an unfortunate accident,” Harwood said in a post on Facebook.
The Peoria County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the lake around 12:15 p.m. Monday.
Family members told officers that they were worried after finding Henry’s vehicle in the area where he was supposed to be fishing.
Deputies said they found the partially sunk boat, then launched a drone above the water to find Henry’s body.
