WOODFORD COUNTY, Ill. – Two people are dead after a pair of crashes early Saturday morning on Interstate 74 in Woodford County.
Illinois State Police say the first crash happened prior to 1:30 a.m. on I-74 eastbound inbetween the Carlock exit and the Mackinaw Dells rest area.
That crash blocked several lanes for a time.
As they were investigating, troopers say a passenger car and a semi struck two pedestrians who were standing in the road near the first crash.
The two were pronounced dead at the scene.
A driver in the second crash was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
The road was closed until 8:15 Saturday morning.
