WOODFORD COUNTY, Ill. (25 News) – Two people killed in a crash in Woodford County over the weekend on Interstate 74 have been identified, one of them was an employee of 25 News.
Woodford County Coroner Tim Ruestman identified the victims as 28-year-old Brian Griffin of Bloomington and 23-year-old Leishani Gonzalez, of Normal, who worked as a producer at 25 News.
Illinois State Police say Griffin and Gonzalez had been involved in a separate accident on eastbound I-74, about four miles east of Goodfield.
They were standing in the road when a third car failed to stop in time and hit them, according to ISP. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said the driver of the other car was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said they’re still investigating.
