PEORIA, Ill. – Firefighters were called to a home overnight on S. Webster Street, near McBean, in Peoria.
Crews found smoke coming from the two-story home, but no one was inside.
Additional crews were brought in to cut the roof open to avoid an explosion.
Though damage was estimated at $50,000, the home was a total loss and was demolished.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
