CHILLICOTHE, Ill. – A 49-year-old from East Peoria has been identified as the victim who died after being struck by a vehicle in Chillicothe.
The Peoria County Coroner’s Office says Christopher Neff was found unresponsive, not breathing, and with no pulse after the accident occurring at the intersection of Rt. 29 and Hillcrest Dr.
The accident involving Neff occurred at around 6:20 A.M., and Neff was pronounced dead at 7:20 A.M.
Neff was removing debris from a prior crash from the road when he was struck by a passing car. He was wearing neon clothing and had caution lights illuminated on his construction vehicle.
The coroner’s office says Neff likely died instantly after suffering multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
Illinois State Police are continuing to investigate.
