PEKIN, Ill. – The man leaving the job as Chief of the Pekin Police Department has officially named his successor.
That’s because Chief John Dossey is also City Manager, and will take on that role permanently Monday.
On Sunday, Dossey says Deputy Chief Seth Ranney will take over the top job, as Dossey says that’s an appointment the City Manager gets to make.
Ranney, a Pekin native, started on the force in 2000, went to Nashville in 2006, and came back to Pekin in 2010.;
Dossey describes Ranney as “a well-rounded officer,”: and is someone he has targeted for a long time as the person most likely to eventually become chief.
“Ranney has the utmost integrity and will serve Pekin well,” said Dossey, in a news release. “This is a proud moment for Seth, and for the Pekin Community.”
