PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man has been indicted by a grand jury on charges of First-Degree Murder.
The grand jury Tuesday.also filed a charge of Possession of a Weapon by a Felon against Amorta Nelson, 25.
Nelson was arrested in September after Antonio Hardy, 33, was allegedly shot outside a South Peoria gas station and died at a hospital.
A judge used the cashless bail provision of the state’s SAFE-T Act to keep Nelson locked up. He’s scheduled to be arraigned Thursday morning.
The death was Peoria’s 19th homicide of the year.
