PEORIA, Ill. – The teen who allegedly shot a Manual High School student on his way to school last week will be tried as an adult.
In fact, the Peoria County State’s Attorney’s office says Thursday the Class-X felony charge 16-year-old Jimichael Brown faces of Aggravated Battery means it’s an automatic transfer to adult felony court.
The shooting occurred the morning of November 9 on West Ann Street, as a 17-year-old male suffered a leg injury.
Brown and another 16-year-old were taken into custody Wednesday following a police investigation that also resulted in the discovery of a number of weapons. The other teen was wanted on a warrant.
Brown will be in court for a detention hearing Friday.
