NEW YORK – The annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade steps off Thursday morning in New York City, but not without some assurances of safety for the thousands who will watch in person.
The heightened security, according to FOX News, comes after Wednesday’s fatal crash at the U.S.-Canada border in Niagra Falls – at one point thought to be a terrorist attack. Officials, however, did not find any terrorist motives.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams says the city will not take any additional security measures ahead of the parade.
Meanwhile, as for the parade itself, it might once again have to contend with a different foe: the weather. Some of the balloons are expected to have a hard time with wind gusts forecast near Central Park to be close to 20 miles per hour.
