The 4th annual Seats For Soldiers is back at Dozer Park in Peoria to save seats for soldiers, and raise money for Hope For The Warriors.
Dr. Chris Michaels, Brand Manager for 104.9 The Wolf, and Presley’s Outdoors want to try and save every seat at Dozer Park for the soldiers.
And, Dozer Park has a lot of seats.
“If we could get 7,000 flags, that would be good,” Michaels said.
For 36 hours he will sit in the stands and with every donation made, he will move seats and an American Flag will mark a seat for a soldier.
Michaels began at 6:00 a.m. Monday, and will finish at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday.
Hope For The Warriors is a foundation that helps men and women who have served in the military. They offer counseling services for PTSD, or a brain injury, or a physical injury, the foundation helps physically, emotionally, and financially.
Michaels said seeing the park filled with flags is a visual impact.
“Because you realize how the people of central Illinois come together and they want to help out the men and women who served their country, and their families,” Michaels said. “It’s definitely an emotional thing when you see all the flags up”.
Seats For Soldiers began after hearing the number of men and women who served who took their own life every year was over 8,000.
“That’s a lot, and we decided we needed to do something to help,” Michaels said.
There are several ways to make a donation. For a $5 donation, you can text ‘SEATS’ The Trouble Free Heating, Cooling and Plumbing line at 44321, or visit Hope For Warriors HERE. Or, you can also stop by Dozer Park and drop of a donation.
