Ron Searle, 43, of Washington, was allegedly drunk when his pickup truck crossed the center line on Highway H in Crawford County, Missouri Saturday night, when he hit a motorcycle head-on, killing 25-year-old Connor Crites.
The Sullivan Independent News said Crites was pronounced dead at the scene.
Searle was treated for minor injuries and taken to jail. He was initially booked for felony DWI (driving while intoxicated) and resisting arrest according to a local TV station, then charged with second-degree murder. Bond was set at $250,000.
Searle was arrested in Peoria County in June, booked on two felony counts of aggravated domestic battery and unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle. He was released from custody after posting $100 bail, then formally charged with a pair of misdemeanors: domestic battery and criminal trespass to vehicles.
Searle is awaiting a jury trial scheduled for October.
