WASHINGTON, D.C. – Wreaths Across America began in 1992, when a holiday wreath-making company from Maine donated extra wreaths to adorn the graves at Arlington National Cemetery.
Fox News says in the decades since, and with the help of social media, more than 100,000 wreaths are paid for, and placed by volunteers across the U.S. at national and state cemeteries complete with ceremonies, and with wreaths also for prisoners of war, or those listed as missing in action.
This year’s Wreaths Across America Day will take place on December 16, with more than two million Veterans’ wreaths placed at 4,000-plus locations in all 50 states, at sea and abroad.
