PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Snowfighters spent most of the overnight plowing and treating the residential streets before returning to the main routes.
Peoria Public Works Deputy Director Sie Maroon says blowing and drifting snow along with bitterly cold temperatures will be what the street crews will be up against Saturday.
Maroon says the Snowfighters will focus on the arterial streets Saturday morning and will return to residential streets Saturday afternoon.
Roads are slick and partially snow-covered. Winds are causing the snow to blow and drift in some areas.
“Blowing and drifting snow along with plowing and treating the roads will be our focus today,” Public Works Deputy Director Sie Maroon says. “Continue to pay attention as you travel the City’s streets as road conditions will change throughout the day and evening.”
Minor snow accumulations are expected Saturday. Winds could gust up to 35 mph at times and wind chills may drop to as low as -30 to -35 Saturday night. Crews will continue to plow and treat the roads with around-the-clock operations, until further notice.
Maroon reminds drivers to use caution on the roads and to give yourself more stopping distance than usual.
