PEORIA, Ill. – A long-talked-about project in Peoria is finally close to beginning.
The City of Peoria says work will begin in March to convert Adams and Jefferson from one-way to two-way streets.
The work will be done over two and a half years at a cost of nearly $19 million.
The city says it will include shortening pedestrian crossings, bike lanes, new traffic signals, and overlaying of the existing pavement – that’s in addition to having one lane in each direction.
The city has set up a website for the project, and an e-mail distribution list for those who want updates on the project.
