PEORIA, Ill. – A retired pro basketball player who also happens to be a native of Peoria is helping some of the best of the best in Peoria Public Schools.
Shaun Livingston was in his hometown Friday, where he gave the top fifteen students at Peoria High School iPads.
Livingston tells 25 News they’re some of the city’s best and brightest, in his words.
“It’s a big world out there. There’s magic here in Peoria as well. There’s talent everywhere, no matter what,” Livingston said.
Livingston tells 25 News he hopes the students get a little motivation, and not just from the gift.
“Just believe in yourself, put the work in, stay disciplined, stay committed,” said Livingston. “Those are some of the factors that we’re trying to help show the kids.”
Livingston says Peoria was a big part of his success, and he wants the students to have the same chance.
The fifteen-year NBA veteran played his last five years with Golden State, before retiring in 2019.
