PEORIA, Ill. – One might annoy us a lot, and another might be around in part to annoy them.
Two new exhibits are getting underway at the Peoria Riverfront Museum this weekend.
One is called “Insects” – the other, “Critters.”
As for “Insects“…
“It pairs a lot of insects that are preserved in cases, that are part of our permanent collections, with these beautiful, high-resolution photographs of insects from British photographer Levon Biss,” said Renae Kerrigan, Curator of Science.
“Insects” opened Friday.
That’s also how “Critters” will largely be displayed – and that opens Saturday.
“We had a local collector that recent acquired a painting by the great folk artist William Hawkins. The title of the painting is ‘Critter,” said Zac Zetterberg, Curator of Art. “We already have a Hawkins painting that’s installed in the museum in another gallery. I wanted to bring this painting, ‘Critter,’ into the museum. So, we wrapped an exhibition around it.”
“Critters” will also feature a talk with one of the artists of some of the work in the exhibition February 11th at 1:00 p.m. – one of the Sundays the museum will be open to all with free admission.
