PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria County State’s Attorney is filing new charges against a Peoria man who was arrested for allegedly opening fire near Interstate 74 and Gale Avenue almost two weeks ago.
State’s Attorney Jodi Hoos’ office says Donte Wright, 25, is facing charges of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and Armed Habitual Criminal, and more charges are expected when the case goes before a grand jury.
When he was arrested Tuesday, Peoria Police held Wright on charges of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
At least one Peoria Police squad car was hit by a bullet when shots were fired not far from an accident they were responding to.
Hoos claims Wright was a backseat passenger in a passing car and fired a gun.
Wright remains jailed. He’s scheduled to be in court again Feb. 29.
