UPDATE: (10 p.m. ) – A Pekin Police spokesperson tells 25 News that the three officers who rescued the child have been released from the hospital, while a family member says the boy is stable condition.

PEKIN, Ill. – A child walking across a frozen Pekin lake ended up under water, causing police to come to the rescue.
Pekin Police said it started around 3:20 p.m. Monday at Myers Lake, when they received calls of a four year old child walking across the lake.
Three officers, with Pekin Fire assistance, discovered the child fell through, and got in and rescued him.
All four were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Police say the Tazewell County Sheriffs Department is taking over the investigation.
