An East Peoria man has been identified as a drowning victim in the Illinois River.
An autopsy report issued on Monday, confirmed that 61-year old David B. Westphal of East Peoria, died from drowning.
East Peoria Police and Firefighters responded to a report of body found in the Illinois river under the Murray Baker Bridge.
The Tazewell County Coroner says Westphal, was recovered from the river, on the East Peoria side, before noon on Saturday. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:10 p.m.
According to a release from Tazewell County officials, the case remains under investigation by East Peoria Police Detectives, the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigators, and the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office.
