PEORIA, Ill. – Two Peoria residents have now been indicted by a grand jury after an armed robbery attempt about a month ago that resulted in one person being shot and killed.
Court documents indicate both Sontarrius Williams, 27, and Jaylyn Branscumb, 18, are facing Armed Robbery charges.
The two allegedly stole a cell phone from one of the victims on West Lincoln Avenue January 15th.
That victim and Marcus Whitehead, 18, Bloomington, came to Peoria for a car for sale on Facebook Marketplace when a fight broke out and Whitehead died.
The second victim fired a legally-possessed gun and police say he won’t be charged.
Williams will be arraigned Thursday afternoon, while Branscumb will be back in court Thursday morning.
