PEORIA, Ill. – A second arrest has been made after a shooting incident near an interstate overpass in January that struck a Peoria Police vehicle.
Peoria Police say a 17-year-old male was identified as a suspect in the incident on Wednesday. Detectives spotted the juvenile going into a business at Jefferson and Caroline.
The teenager was taken into custody without incident and questioned. He was then arrested on charges of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm Under 21, and an Active Warrant.
The 17-year-old was taken to the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center.
The shooting occurred in the late-afternoon hours of January 26th. Officers were responding to a traffic crash near the Gale St. overpass of I-74 at around 5:00 P.M. that day, when they heard 12-15 shots fired nearby. One of the shots struck a police vehicle.
No one was injured in the incident.
Donte Wright, 25, was arrested earlier this month on charges relating to the shooting, including Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
