KNOX COUNTY, Ill. – Three teenagers in Knox County are in trouble with the law after they allegedly decided to throw concrete off a bridge and on to passing cars.
The Knox County Sheriffs Department says 19-year-old Mason Stone, and 18-year-olds Grant Oyler and Hayden Herschelman were arrested Monday and face charges of Theft, Burglary, Criminal Trespass to property, Vehicular Endangerment, and Criminal Damage to Property.
Sheriff Jack Harlan says his department had received a number of reports of concrete items being thrown from interstate and highway overpasses, most recently Monday, hitting vehicles.
One instance happened on U.S. 34 in Knox County, another on Interstate 74, both near Galesburg.
Deputies determined transmission fluid was also being poured from the overpasses and hitting cars.
The three were taken to jail, but county prosecutors did not file petitions to have them held until trial, so they were released.
