PEORIA, Ill. – Central Illinois will need to keep an eye on the skies Monday.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Rebekka Delaney of Lincoln says there is a marginal risk of severe weather for the Peoria-area on Monday.
“The storms will be moving through the area through central Illinois in a line fashion, and we’re looking at a timing of around 5:00 or 6:00 for the Peoria area,” Delaney said.
Delaney says the NWS is keeping an eye on some storm cells that could intensify throughout the day. She says while there is a small threat of tornadoes on Monday, at a 2% chance, the main threat will be winds with some hail also possible.
25 News First Alert Chief Meteorologist Chuck Collins says the storms are expected to last throughout the evening and overnight hours. He says locally heavy rain is also a threat with the storms.
Collins says isolated severe storms in the Peoria-area are also possible.
