DELAVAN, Ill. – The victim in a fatal fire at a rural Delavan house Friday evening has been identified.
Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley says 81-year-old Virginia Leach was pronounced dead at the scene of the fire at around 8:50 P.M.
He says a preliminary autopsy on Monday revealed inhalation of smoke and soot as the cause of death for Leach.
The fire was called in at around 7:10 P.M. on Friday, and its cause is still unknown. The case is under investigation by the Illinois State Fire Marshal, and the Tazewell County Sheriff’s and Coroner’s Offices.
