SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – An Illinois Appellate Court says the Tazewell County judge who ordered a man held in jail until his trial for allegedly killing his child ruled correctly.
The 4th District Appellate Court in Springfield ruled Friday that Hunter Waters, 20, can be held in jail until his trial.
Attorneys for Waters, who’s facing Murder and Aggravated Battery Charges, tried to claim, according to the ruling, that, in part, the prosecution didn’t meet its burden of proof.
Those attorneys also wanted Waters to be put on electronic home monitoring.
Waters allegedly so severely injured two-month old Addison Waters that she later died in a Peoria hospital in late-November of last year.
The judge’s original ruling that Hunter Waters must remain behind bars was made under the state’s new Pretrial Fairness Act.
Waters will be back in court for a review hearing April 1.
