PEORIA, Ill. – “I became a monster.”
Those are some of the words uttered by Cody Krause, 28, to investigators as he was charged with the murder of his grandmother Thursday in the West Peoria area.
25 News reports a judge Friday set bond at $2.5 million, and set an arraignment date of May 11th, as Krause made his first court appearance on a First Degree Murder count.
Peoria County deputies went to a home on a report of “trouble with a male” around 7:00 a.m. Thursday near Kim Moor Avenue and Airport Road in West Peoria.
Glenda Rusterholz, 73, was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy indicated multiple blunt force trauma injuries and multiple defensive wounds. Krause reportedly used a hammer.
Krause also told investigators his grandmother “wanted it,” and that the voices in his head stopped when he killed her.
Krause remains jailed.
