PEORIA, Ill. – Average gas prices in Peoria have fallen 3.3 cents a gallon in the last week, averaging $3.73 on Monday, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 148 local gas stations.
Peoria’s prices are 18.4 cents higher than a month ago, and 7.3 cents lower than a year ago.
GasBuddy price reports show the cheapest gas in Peoria on Sunday was $3.47 a gallon, while the most expensive gas was $3.89. The lowest price in Illinois was $3.18 a gallon, while the highest priced gas was $5.19.
The national average gas price rose 6.5 cents in the last week, averaging $3.57 on Monday, up 17.1 cents from a month ago and 0.8 cents lower than this time last year, according to GasBuddy data.
“After a brief break, gas prices have leapt back up, driven by extensive refinery maintenance on the West Coast, where prices have increased notably; only a handful of states have seen prices decline over the last week,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
Meanwhile, AAA says the average gas price in the Peoria-Pekin metro area is $3.74 as of Monday, the state’s average price is $3.98 and the national average gas price is $3.59.
