PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria firefighters were called to a home on Tonti Circle on reports of a fire Tuesday night.
Fire Battalion Chief Larry Carter says when crews arrived around 8:20 p.m., they found heavy smoke and fire coming from the front of the home.
The fire was under control in about 10 minutes. A search found no one inside the home.
Carter says the home was full of clutter, making access for firefighters difficult. Fire and smoke damage was found throughout the home.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Code enforcement was called to the scene, determining the home needed to be demolished immediately.
No injuries were reported at the scene. Damage is estimated at $30,000.
