PEORIA, Ill. – Gas prices in Peoria have dropped 5.7 cents a gallon in the last week, averaging $3.71 on Monday, according to Gas Buddy’s survey of local stations.
Peoria’s prices are just over 12 cents lower than last month, and around 4.5 cents higher than this time last year.
According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest gas in Peoria on Sunday was $3.49 a gallon, while the most expensive gas was $3.89. The lowest price in Illinois on Sunday was $2.85, while the most expensive gas in the state was $5.29 a gallon.
GasBuddy’s national average gas price has dropped 3.2 cents a gallon in the last week, averaging $3.58 on Monday. The national average is down 3.7 cents from a month ago and is just over 6 cents a gallon higher than this time last year.
“While pump prices haven’t exactly plummeted, we’ve seen the average price of gasoline drop in a majority of states over the last week as refineries finish maintenance and ramp up output of products like gasoline,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
Meanwhile, AAA says Monday’s average gas price in the Peoria/Pekin metro area is $3.72, the state’s average price is $3.91, and the national average gas price is $3.61 a gallon.
