CHICAGO, Ill. – It was another violent holiday weekend in Chicago, with at least 39 people shot, 9 killed, including a 5-year-old girl.
Fox News reports 5-year-old Reign Ware was sitting in a car around 3:30 a.m. Sunday, when a group of men opened fire at the car her 24-year-old father was standing in front of, injuring him as well.
Chicago Police had no one in custody for any of the weekend shootings as of Monday night.
On Friday, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson announced the Windy City’s “summer safety plan” where he criticized previous leadership for a lack of investing in the city and youth, saying “They have run this city to the ground, but now, you have progressive leadership that’s invested in people to building it up.”
