PEORIA, Ill. – Average gas prices in Peoria have dropped 3.4 cents a gallon in the last week, averaging $3.71 on Monday, according to GasBuddy’s survey of 148 stations in Peoria.
Peoria’s prices are 4.6 cents lower than a month ago, and 15.4 cents higher than this time last year.
GasBuddy’s price reports show the cheapest gas in Peoria on Sunday was $3.49 a gallon, while the most expensive gas was $3.89. The lowest price in the state on Sunday was $2.94 and the highest priced gas was $5.19 a gallon.
The national average price of gas, according to GasBuddy, has fallen 5.8 cents in the last week, averaging $3.50 on Monday. That’s down 15.9 cents from a month ago, and 1.9 cents lower than a year ago.
“The calendar has closed on May, and so too has the door closed on rising gas prices, with the national average declining to its lowest level since March. Thankfully, gas prices are unlikely to be moved by OPEC’s meeting and agreement to extend production cuts into 2025, leading the national average to fall below $3.50 in the next week,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. “With GasBuddy data showing gasoline demand plummeting after Memorial Day, and refiners inputting the largest amount of oil into their facilities in years, it’s very likely we’ll continue to see gas prices fall as we approach July 4.”
Meanwhile, AAA says the average price of gas in the Peoria/Pekin metro area was $3.71 on Monday, the state’s average price was $3.91, and the national average price of gas was $3.53.
