PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria firefighters responded to reports of a fire at a home on N. Indiana early Tuesday morning.
Fire Battalion Chief Steve Rada says crews arrived around 12 a.m., finding the back of the home on fire. They later learned the fire started in the garage. It collapsed on itself and spread to the home.
No one was inside the home, it was vacant and boarded-up.
A fire investigator determined the cause of the fire was arson.
No firefighter injuries were reported.
Damage to the home is estimated at $50,000.
