Bridge deck replacement to affect I-74 traffic

PEORIA, Ill. – Two major bridge replacement projects will affect traffic patterns on I-74 and a couple of surrounding roads west of Peoria.

IDOT says work at County Highway 18 in Knox County will begin Monday, while work on Route 78 west of Brimfield will begin June 17.

I-74 will be reduced to one lane each direction at each work zone.

The County Highway 18 work will require a full closure and reroute of traffic. The work on Route 78 will reduce traffic to one lane in each direction with traffic controlled by temporary signals.

Both projects will last until late this year with the Route 78 work expected to be completed at the end of November.
