PEORIA COUNTY, Ill. – The Peoria County Coroner has identified the girl who died after a medical emergency forced a Chicago-bound plane to land at Peoria International Airport Thursday morning.
Jamie Harwood says eight-year-old Sydney Weston of Carl Junction, Missouri was traveling with her family for a vacation. That’s when he says Weston suddenly became ill and unresponsive during the flight. Her familytold flight personnel of her condition, who rapidly provided aid.
Harwood says Weston had no pulse and was not breathing when the plane landed in Peoria.
She was taken to OSF Healthcare Saint Francis Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead just after 8:00 A.M.
An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.

Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins says the commercial flight originated from Joplin, Missouri, and was scheduled to stop in Chicago.
When the plane landed at PIA around 7 a.m., Sheriff’s deputies, AMT, and Air National Guard Fire personnel began life-saving measures.
The girl was taken to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead, Watkins says.
