PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria firefighters responded to a business in the 3700 block of N. Dayton Avenue Monday night, on reports of smoke in the area.
Fire Battalion Chief Mike Ralston says crews arrived just before 6:30 p.m., finding smoke and fire coming from the building’s roof. Additional fire companies were called in once it was deemed a working fire.
Peoria Police assisted with traffic in the area, shutting down westbound War Memorial Drive. The fire was put out in about 15 minutes, Ralston says.
A fire investigator determined the fire was accidental due to repairs being done to the roof.
No injuries were reported.
Damage estimates were not released.
