PEORIA, Ill. – Investigators believe arson is the cause of a fire in Peoria Thursday that left a garage as a total loss.
Peoria Fire responded before noon to the area of Knoxville and Briarwood Court.
Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and fire from a two-car unattached garage that had spread to the house.
No one was home at the time of the fire, while power and gas lines were cut.
Fire crews remained on scene to put out hot spots before demolishing the garage.
The fire remains under investigation. Damage is being estimated at $75,000.
