PEORIA, Ill. – Monday marks the start of the new work week and the start of road construction projects in and near Morton, East Peoria and Eureka.
Pavement patching will begin Monday on the I-74 Morton Avenue overpass in Morton. Morton Avenue will be down to one lane in each direction through August.
East Washington Street in East Peoria will be blocked between Main Street and Anna Street for work on the concrete islands. Main Street will go down to one lane at Washington during the day and the right turn lane from northbound Main to East Washington will also be closed. That work is expected to last two weeks.
Springfield Road from Main to East Washington Streets can be used as an alternate, but motorists are reminded there is still roadwork and turn restrictions at Springfield Road and East Washington.
The Route 24 bridge at the railroad tracks in Woodford County about three miles west of Eureka will go down to one lane for expansion joint repairs. A temporary traffic signal will be in place through the end of October.
