PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria County judge has sentenced a live-in caretaker found guilty last month of murdering the woman he was caring for.
Dmitri Rogatchev was sentenced to 60 years in prison on Monday. He was given credit for more than four and a half years of time served.
Rogatchev was found guilty for the December 2019 murder of 75-year-old Sandra Jackson.
Prosecutors say Rogatchev became enraged at Jackson, and hit and kicked her over an argument about television noise, resulting in a fatal brain injury for Jackson.
An autopsy showed two injuries on Jackson’s head that led to significant bleeding and pressure on her brain.
