PEORIA COUNTY, Ill. – A fire that heavily damaged a Norwood home Wednesday afternoon left several animals dead and a family of four displaced.
Limestone Fire Chief Dale Hoerr tells 25 News, no one was home when fire broke out on W. Lamoine Street, but four of six animals in the home did not survive. Two animals are missing.
Hoerr says when crews arrived, they found smoke flowing from the eaves of the home.
The home was a total loss. Damage is estimated between $100,000 and $150,000.
The state fire marshal is investigating the cause of the blaze.
The Red Cross is assisting the family with housing and clothes.
