PEORIA, Ill. – A man from Washington state was arrested early Monday morning on weapons charges in downtown Peoria.
Peoria Police say officers responded to the area of Main and Madison just after 12:30 A.M. after reports of a man firing a handgun.
The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Christopher Hopkins, was found after a search of the area.
Hopkins was arrested on charges of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Possession of a Firearm without a Valid FOID Card.
He was taken to the Peoria County Jail.
Police say the handgun was not found.
