PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria City Councilman Chuck Grayeb announced his candidacy for mayor on Tuesday.
Grayeb has served on the City Council for 23 years, as both an At-Large member and representing Peoria’s 2nd District.
In a statement, Grayeb says he believes the city’s best days lie ahead. “But, crime and the unhoused cast a big shadow over our City which the next Mayor of Peoria must immediately confront.”
Grayeb says he continues to work to allocate more money for core basic services, with a strong emphasis on enhancing mental health services for the neediest among us.
Grayeb joins Mayor Rita Ali and At-Large Councilman John Kelly in the mayoral race ahead of the election set for next April.
