PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man will spend the next seven years in prison after pleading guilty to possessing and selling weapons.
27-year-old Devonte Thompson was sentenced Thursday to prison, after he was arrested last July. He pleaded guilty in February of this year.
Prosecutors say Thompson, while on parole for a state felony firearm conviction, possessed and sold three handguns and ammunition in four transactions in February of 2023.
Those included an AR-15-style privately made “ghost gun” pistol, and two machine gun conversion “switch” devices.
Thompson was previously prohibited from possessing weapons due to five prior felony convictions, three of which were weapons-related.
After his seven year prison term, Thompson must serve three years of supervised release.
