PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria babysitter has been charged with aggravated battery in connection with injuries to a young boy in her care last month.
Mattie Breedlove, 57, according to online court records has been released from custody pending her arraignment scheduled for September 12.
25 News reports a heavily-redacted Peoria police report, obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, indicated the boy had two black eyes, bruising, “minor lumps” to both sides of his forehead and a missing tooth that appeared to have been knocked out.
The boy’s age was not included in the report.
The report also indicated Breedlove admitted to sometimes disciplining children in her care by putting them in time out or making them hold cans straight out until their arms get tired.
Breedlove denied using a belt or sandal to discipline children.
