WOODFORD COUNTY, Ill. – The identities of the two victims from a fatal crash near El Paso on Saturday have been identified.
Woodford County Coroner Tim Ruestman says autopsies were conducted on 26-year-old Rogelio Rivera Lozada and 23-year-old Lazaro De La Luz Hernandez, both of Secor, IL.
Lozada was the driver of the vehicle, with Hernandez a passenger.
Ruestman says both died from multiple blunt force trauma injuries, and toxicology tests are pending.
The crash occurred on US Route 24 at around 3:45 A.M. near the intersection of 2500E. The Woodford County Sheriff’s Office says the 2006 red Dodge Charger Lozada and Hernandez were in was found in a ditch by deputies. The vehicle came in contact with a power pole on the passenger side.
Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Woodford County Sheriff’s Office says open alcohol was found in the vehicle they were in, and the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed.
The crash remains under investigation.
