NORMAL, Ill. – Several cars in the parking lot of the Rivian Automotive plant in Normal are damaged by fire.
Firefighters from Normal were dispatched to the plant around 9:45 p.m. Saturday on a report of a vehicle fire. They found an unspecified number of vehicles on fire as they arrived.
25 News reports Normal Fire Department spokesperson Matt Swaney said the blaze was extinguished by midnight, but crews remained on the scene.
Swaney said the Rivian assembly plant was not affected by the blaze.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
