PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria Fire Department was called to W. Westminister Avenue Sunday evening on reports of a fire.
Fire Battalion Chief Mike Ralston says when they arrived shortly before 6 p.m., crews found fire and smoke coming from the back of a home.
The fire was knocked down quickly outside the house, then firefighters moved inside and found heavy fire in the attic.
A search of the home found no one was inside.
A hole was cut into the roof for ventilation. The fire was put out in about 15 minutes.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
No injuries were reported.
