PEORIA, Ill. – A 30-year-old Peoria man is the victim in a homicide shooting Wednesday night in South Peoria.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says Dennis Harris was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting just before 9:00 P.M.
It’s the city’s 11th homicide of 2024.
The shooting occurred in the area of MacArthur and Johnson near Martin Luther King Junior Park just before 8:30 P.M., where six shots were fired.
A second male victim was shot and taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Harwood says an autopsy on Harris is scheduled for Friday.
